CRM Email body shows sign-in screen in IFD

Posted on January 22nd, 2010.

We offer CRM as a hosted solution using the IFD capabilities of CRM 4.0.  We recently moved a new customer into Production, and a few days later they reported a problem when composing and viewing CRM emails (using the CRM form).

The problem manifested itself as shown below – note the IFD sign-in screen where the email body should be…

Because we have several customers in Production who were not experiencing this issue, we knew it must be an organization-specific setting.  After a bit of investigation, we discovered that it was the ‘Use secure frames to restrict e-mail message content’ setting in the Administration area.

Changing this value to No resolved the problem.

This is similar to issues you might also see (IFD or On-Prem) when using iFrames in CRM – if you check the ‘Restrict cross-frame scripting’ box on the iFrame properties – you are likely to be challenged for credentials when  you don’t expect to be.

Hope this helps someone.

Thanks for that, I had exactly the same problem with one of your clients. You’ve saved me a lot of time!
